Amelia Kelly Caruso of Kingston passed away Tuesday morning after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of Thomas and Carmel Kelly, she was born in Dunmore and graduated from Dunmore High School. She received her BS in Professional Studies with a concentration in Gerontology Magna Cum Laude and her MS in Organizational Management from Misericordia University.
Amy started her professional career at Marywood College. She was a longtime employee of Misericordia University as Advancement Research Manager, where she made many lifelong friends.
Amy lived a life defined by hard work, a reverence for education, and a dedication to family and friends.
Amy leaves behind her loving husband Richard Caruso, children Tina Gaffney and husband John, Tricia Novick and husband Joe, Kelly Liebold and husband Mark, grandchildren Tony King, Joey Novick, Ava Liebold and Molly Gaffney, great-grandchildren Nathan and Dominic King. Her sisters Carmie Buratti and husband Joe, Rosemary Murphy, Frannie Hughes and husband Gary, her brothers Mark Kelly and wife Ann Therese, Thomas Kelly and wife Karen, Michael Kelly and wife Laura, several nieces and nephews.
Amy received exceptional care from Dr. William Hottenstein, Dr. David Greenwald, Dr. Barry Pernikoff, and Dr. John Guerriero.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Allied Center City Skilled Nursing, staff, and her niece Julie Brislin for their exceptional care and support during her illness.
A celebration of life will be held Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a service beginning at 1p.m. at Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E Drinker St. Dunmore. Interment will be private for immediate family.
A mass in Amy’s honor will be held at a later date. Per Amy’s request, casual dress and bright colors are requested.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Amy’s memory to her beloved alma mater, Misericordia University, c/o Office of Advancement, 301 Lake St., Dallas, PA 18612.
