Salvatore A. Verrastro, 91, of Dunmore, passed away Saturday afternoon at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Rose DeMarco.
Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Sarah Bonavoglia Verrastro. He was a 1954 graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Sal was a proud Airforce veteran and the owner of Sal’s Electrical Company.
Sal was a devoted member of the church. He was a huge family man first. He was a collector of cars, trains and guns. A loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
Surviving are his sons, David Verrastro and wife Michelle, Peckville and Jason Verrastro and wife Jackie, Milanville.
Grandchildren, Ashley, Sal, Chelsea and husband Pat, Domenique and husband Zach, Jacob, Ava, Ethan and Aaron. Great-grandchildren, Stefano, Vita, Gianna, Tatum and Josie.
A brother, Tony Verrastro and wife Joan, South Carolina. A daughter-in-law, Donna Verrastro, Dunmore.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Salvatore Verrastro. Sisters, Catherine Mesiti and Angie Freeman. Brothers, Vincent and Leonard Verrastro.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St. In Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St. in Dunmore.
Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
