Steve J. Micciche Obituary

Steve J. Micciche, 84, of Throop and formally of Dunmore, died peacefully on Wednesday night in the Intensive Care Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center surrounded by his family. He and his wife, the former Jean M. Bouselli, celebrated 61 years of marriage on September 2nd.

Born in Scranton son of the late Santo and Josephine DelVecchio Micciche, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1956 and Lackawanna Junior College, and had served honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, and prior to his retirement had been employed by PennDOT for 30 years, and was currently employed by Midlantic Engineering Company for the past 21 years. Steve, also known amongst his friends as Stevie, was an avid fan of Penn State football, as well as the Dunmore Bucks football and Girls Basketball teams. He was a member of the original “Boneyard Gang” at the YMCA where he attended every morning, bright and early, and was also a member of the Smith Street Social Club. For many years and for well over 100 trips, he was a driver for the Shriners, taking children to hospitals for their care.

Steve loved to make, and drink, his famous Italian wine. He was also a massive fan of the band the Eagles, so much so that he celebrated his 80th birthday with his family standing on the famous corner of Winslow, Arizona that was mentioned in his favorite song, “Take it Easy.” Steve loved watching old westerns and loved his family more than anything, never missing any of their recitals, concerts, plays, and sporting events. His best memories were made traveling the country with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Mark Micciche and his wife Christine of Dunmore; a daughter Karen Micciche Rossmell and husband Leo of Dunmore; grandchildren Mark Santo Micciche of Alabama; Miranda Styborski and husband Andrew of North Dakota, Maria Micciche of Dunmore, Michael Rossmell and wife Melissa of Dunmore, and Steven Rossmell of Dunmore; great-grandsons Lincoln and Carter Rossmell; his sister Mary Ann Rose of Scranton; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gaetana Telincho.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. There is no visitation per Steve’s wishes. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.

In honor of Steve’s love of sports, feel free to wear your favorite sports team’s colors to the Mass. Interment will be privately held.
